Under most circumstances I’ll use a saw to prune a tree, you can see a video on the subject here.
But there might be times, and I’m really thinking about last resort scenarios, where you might have to look at removing a hazel stem with a knife. So in this video I show you how to. Note the messy cut and that I actually tidied it up with a saw afterwards.
We don’t generally teach removing a hazel stem with a knife due to the potential harm it might cause, but we do look at how to prune a tree so that it can heal afterwards on our IOL Bushcraft Course and 5 Day Bushcraft Course.
