1 Day Trapping Course

trapping course | bushcraft | Kent | London | south east

What’s it about?

Located between Canterbury and Ashford, join us at our ancient woodland camp on the beautiful Kent Downs for this introductory 1 day trapping course.

Trapping played an important role in food acquisition for our hunter gatherer ancestors and represents an important aspect of bushcraft.

Whilst it is illegal in the UK to set and use the traps taught on this course, it’s a useful skill to have.

What will I do on this 1 day trapping course?

During your time spent with us on this 1 day trapping course, you will:

  • Learn about UK law around snaring, trapping and fishing,
  • Look at fish traps and how to use them,
  • Make an improvised fishing spear,
  • Be shown an Old English Cribett bird trap,
  • Learn where to set a trap and determine the target species,
  • Make a Figure 4 trigger mechanism and learn how to use it to set a deadfall trap,
  • Make a West Country snare trap,
  • Make an ‘L7’ trap.

At the end of this 1 day trapping course you’ll have a good working knowledge of the skills needed to set and construct a trap.
