Must do course

Consolidated my previous experience and lifted me up another level in Bushcraft abilities. Gary very good at giving individual support where needed to get the most out of your experience.

Excellent course

The world of bushcraft tends to be blighted by a lot of showing off and macho bluffing. Gary is the antidote to all that - just no-nonsense expertise delivered clearly and with quiet authority. There's a lot of content to get through, but it's a very enjoyable course held in beautiful surroundings with great food and great company.

Bushcraft brilliance

Can’t fault this course, absolutely amazing. Everyone was so friendly and helpful and understanding of those that needed a little bit more support and guidance in some areas! Very knowledgeable tutors. Both Gary and Steve passed on all their wealth of knowledge and skills and Nicola cooking and fine dining (venison yes venison 😁) was certainly a welcome Treat at the end of the day.
Great to know that Gary is at the end of an email to answer any questions, that I forgot to ask on the day ,so the back up post course support availability is also a really useful and unique feature, brilliant surroundings and shows Kent countryside at its best . Now for the consolidation hours!

Brilliant. Highly recommend.

I have just completed the IOL 3 day bushcraft competency course. I highly recommend.

Gary had a wealth of knowledge and both he and steve are very patient and helpful when teaching. I was struggling and getting a little frustrated with the bow drilling but with gentle encouragement and slight tweaking of technique I produced an ember.

The site is beautiful, the kettle is always on and the compost loo wasnt as bad as i'd imagined. (Was incredibly grateful for a sheltered toilet)

Also have to mention Nicola who is an amazing cook, dinner was gorgeous. She also has a wealth of knowledge.
I have learnt so much in 3 days and am looking forward to putting it into practice then returning to complete the assessment.

Informative, instructive and fun.
