Foraging for ramsons

Ramsons (Allium ursinum) are right at the top of my list of favourite wild foods and are a beginner level plant in terms of identification.  With that said, there are a couple of plants that you need to be aware of when you’re foraging for ramsons, dog’s mercury (Mercurialis perrensis) and lords & ladies (Arum maculatum).  Both of these plants commonly grow amongst the ramsons and both are toxic so it is worth geting to know them.

Here’s a short video where I talk about these plants and how to avoid picking them when you’re foraging for ramsons.

You can see plenty of photos from our 1 day foraging courses, as well as all of our others, on our Facebook page.
