I put together a video last year about using the ‘plumbers vice‘, and whilst this is a good technique to use when you don’t have a working platform to saw on, it has its limitations. I find that it’s fine for pieces of wood up to about the thickness of a drink’s can, but bigger than that it becomes unwieldy.
That’s when using your knee to brace a log comes into its own.
