A couple of months ago I posted a video in which I talked about the component parts of a bow drill set, including different approaches to bow drilling and a number of different materials that you could use for each of those component parts. I followed that one up with a video showing how to make a bow drill set and then another on posture and technique for bow drilling. The fourth video in this series was about alternative postures for bow drilling.
So this latest video is around fault finding for bow drilling when things aren’t quite working. Remember that you need to be calm in your mind and relaxed in your body, so if you start to feel tired or frustrated, take a rest and have a think about what might be going on.
We teach making a bow drill set, posture and technique and fault finding for bow drilling on the IOL Bushcraft Competency Course. Otherwise join us on a 1:1 training day. You can see loads of photos from this course, as well as all of our other courses, on our Facebook page.
