Making a tent peg

An oft sited mantra within bushcraft is that the more you know, the less you have to carry.  A good example would be making a tent peg rather than carrying one.  It’s a good skill to practice as it brings together saw and knife use in a practical context.

I’ve done videos in the past on the safe use of folding saws and batoning with a knife, so take a look at those for a refresher.

We teach making a tent peg, and much more, on our IOL Bushcraft Competency Award and IOL Bushcraft Competency Certificate courses.

You can see photos from this and all of our other courses on our Facebook page.
