Looking for something different to the usual childrens parties?
For a special, never to be forgotten outdoor adventure, a visit to Jack Raven Bushcraft is something your child and their friends will cherish for years to come.
Whether it’s a birthday, to celebrate finishing exams, or marking a milestone in your child’s life, we are able to provide a fun, exciting and educational outdoor party experience that they’ll remember for years to come.
What will the children do?
Our childrens parties are delivered by qualified and experienced Forest School Leaders and are generally based around our bushcraft theme and involve den building and fire lighting.
With that said, we can tailor a party to your needs if you have other activities in mind, our Party Leaders have a vast range of skills and experience and can tackle most aspects of bushcraft and survival.
For a typical party we’ll introduce the children to the importance of shelter in the outdoors and teach them how to build their own from natural resources provided to us by nature.
For the fire lighting element of the party, the children get to try out lots of different ways to light a fire, from matches & lighters, batteries & wire wool, mirrors, lenses through to traditional flint & steel and modern fire steels.
They will then gather their own firewood, learn how to set a up a fire to give them the very best chance of success, light a fire and use it to cook hot dogs and marshmallows.
We provide catering for the special day; in fact, the kids love to cook their own sausages and marshmallows on a fire they’ve lit themselves!
Where do you hold the kid’s bushcraft parties?
Our bushcraft childrens parties are held outdoors, all year round, in a beautiful 30 acre ancient woodland on the Kent Downs near Westwell in Kent. It’s a few miles outside of Ashford and close to both the M2 and M20.
We have a dedicated area for the parties nestled between the trees so that the kids get a genuine woodland experience.
How long do the kid’s parties last?
Our childrens parties last for around 3 hours. We try to be flexible with the timings for birthday parties as we want the children to enjoy themselves and not feel rushed; it’s not unknown for the parties to overrun.
A half-day party usually runs from 10 am until 1pm (ish) or 1pm until 4pm or so.
How many friends can they bring?
Because we want your child and their friends to have a great adventure in a safe environment, and based on experience of what works best, we take a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 children at a party. This ensures that everyone gets a go at everything.
Do I need to stay?
Yes, one adult needs to stay with the kids. A maximum of 2 adults can accompany the children.
What if it rains?
In the case of wet weather we’ll put up a large tarp for everyone to gather under. But nonetheless we’ll need to venture out for some of the activities (it’s a bushcraft party after all) so it’s important that everyone has a good raincoat with them. And the reality is that more often than not the children aren’t bothered by the rain at all.
How much does it cost?
A half-day birthday party is £30 per child. The price is all inclusive and covers the bushcraft activities, refreshments, hot dogs and marshmallows.

Wonderful 10th birthday celebration for my daughter and friends. As this was our second visit Paul designed the morning’s activities around our ideas and the kids were fully engaged in knife skills and knot tying, amongst other things. The sun even came out so we could have a go at advanced fire lighting skills and orientation using shadows. A fun packed morning - we could happily have stayed all day! Paul has a great manner - providing just enough guidance to let the kids have a go at their own pace. We’ll be back!
The kids absolutely loved the half day Bushcraft birthday party. With kids ranging from 5 to 14, they were all really engaged and loved getting stuck in with shelter building and fire making. We didn't have the best weather, but it really didn’t matter, and it kind of made the experience even more authentic. Alicia was great and knew exactly how to pitch the activities to all the different ages and experience levels within our group. Thanks again.
We had the most wonderful time celebrating my daughter's 10th birthday in the beautiful bluebell woods yesterday. All of the girls loved building the different shelters and learning to build and light a fire and would have happily stayed all day! Paul, our guide, made everything so much fun whilst we all learnt lots of new skills (the Brillo pads and batteries are no longer safe!!!) Thank you so much and we hope to come back again soon ☺️
This birthday party for my 10 year old daughter, with kids ages 7-14, exceeded expectations in every way. From the walk from the Dunn Farm car parking area, through the fields and gates to the beautiful hill top location of the Jack Raven bush camp with commanding views over Kent's North Downs, and the inspiring skills development, the kids were engaged throughout. They were also delighted with the added bonus of being able to observe the goats and newly born lambs along the way. The full afternoonn of shelter-making, fire building and prepping food over an open fire 🔥 captivated all the kids ages 7-14. Paul, our skilled guide, provided engaging and clear guidance and ample opportunities for the kids to give everything a go at their own pace. Suffice it to say, we will be back. We're hooked on bushcraft.
Thank you so much for this unique and enjoyable party. All the kids loved it - Alicia kept it fun whilst the kids learnt at the same time without even realising. They all had an amazing time and loved every second. Willow was a massive highlight too and all the kids went away feeling proud of an achievement. The adults had fun too best sausages ever. And in these strange time not only a grrat day but a safe one.
