Looking for something different to the usual childrens parties?
For a special, never to be forgotten outdoor adventure, a visit to Jack Raven Bushcraft is something your child and their friends will cherish for years to come.
Whether it’s a birthday, to celebrate finishing exams, or marking a milestone in your child’s life, we’re able to provide a fun, exciting and educational outdoor party experience that they’ll remember for years to come.
What will the children do?
Our childrens parties are delivered by qualified and experienced Forest School Leaders and are generally based around our bushcraft theme and involve den building and fire lighting.
With that said, we can tailor a party to your needs if you have other activities in mind, our Party Leaders have a vast range of skills and experience and can tackle most aspects of bushcraft and survival.
For a typical party we’ll introduce the children to the importance of shelter in the outdoors and teach them how to build their own from natural resources provided to us by nature.
For the fire lighting element of the party, the children get to try out lots of different ways to light a fire, from matches & lighters, batteries & wire wool, mirrors, lenses, through to traditional flint & steel and modern fire steels.
They will then gather their own firewood, learn how to set a up a fire to give them the very best chance of success, light a fire and use it to cook hot dogs and marshmallows.
We provide catering for the special day; in fact, the kids love to cook their own sausages and marshmallows on a fire they’ve lit themselves!
Where do you hold the kid’s bushcraft parties?
Our bushcraft childrens parties are held outdoors, all year round, in a beautiful 30 acre ancient woodland on the Kent Downs near Westwell in Kent. It’s a few miles outside of Ashford and close to both the M2 and M20.
We have a dedicated area for the parties nestled between the trees so that the kids get a genuine woodland experience.
Please note that as we hold our bushcraft parties in the woods, there is no cafe or waiting room!
How long do the kid’s parties last?
Our children’s parties last for around 3 hours. We try to be flexible with the timings for birthday parties as we want the children to enjoy themselves and not feel rushed; it’s not unknown for the parties to overrun.
A half-day party usually runs from 10 am until 1pm (ish) or 1pm until 4pm or so.
How many friends can they bring?
Because we want your child and their friends to have a great adventure in a safe environment, and based on many years experience of what works best, we take a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 children at a party. This ensures that everyone gets a go at everything.
Do I need to stay?
Yes, one adult needs to stay with the kids. A maximum of 2 adults can accompany the children.
What if it rains?
In the case of wet weather we’ll put up a large tarp for everyone to gather under. But nonetheless we’ll need to venture out for some of the activities (it’s a bushcraft party after all) so it’s important that everyone has a good raincoat with them. And the reality is that more often than not the children aren’t bothered by the rain at all.
How much does it cost?
A half-day birthday party is £30 per child. The price is all inclusive and covers the bushcraft activities, refreshments, hot dogs and marshmallows.

My daughter had such a lovely 8th birthday party this weekend with Alecia. It was so great to see them out in the fresh air, running around the woods, building shelters and learning about fires. Alecia was such a great party leader - patient, friendly and keen to ensure they had a good time. I’d definitely recommend!
My Son and five 10 year old friends thoroughly enjoyed a bushcraft party learning denbuilding and firelighting skills. I was particularly impressed with Alecia's skills and knowledege, as she expertly created a relaxed and engaging afternoon. The location of the party was beautiful with the walk to the site adding to the experience. Willow the dog was also a big hit. Thank you for creating such a memorable experience for the children.
We booked Jack Raven Bushcraft for my sons 8th birthday.
Cannot fault communication, information from start to finish. My son and his friends had an amazing time, learning from their amazing teacher. It was a great afternoon! 🙂
I decided to have a bushcraft party for my son’s 10th birthday and I wasn’t disappointed! I had a mixed group of children aged 9-11 and they all had a great time. Alicia was knowledgeable, engaging and great at interacting with the group. I had one parent comment to me afterwards that it had been the best party their child had ever been to. Thank you Jack Raven, I would definitely recommend you to others.
Wonderful 10th birthday celebration for my daughter and friends. As this was our second visit Paul designed the morning’s activities around our ideas and the kids were fully engaged in knife skills and knot tying, amongst other things. The sun even came out so we could have a go at advanced fire lighting skills and orientation using shadows. A fun packed morning - we could happily have stayed all day! Paul has a great manner - providing just enough guidance to let the kids have a go at their own pace. We’ll be back!
