Had a great day in the woods learning fire lighting methods and a little about knife sharpening and carving. Gary is a knowledgeable, clear, calm and patient teacher. Would love to come back for more learning.
An absolute privilege to be able to tap into Gary's immense knowledge and passion for bushcraft and the natural world. My day focused on firelighting, from the absolute basics, tools, raw materials, theory, and knowledge, to hands-on techniques. Gary has a comforting, encouraging, and patient manner that helps absorb the flood of knowledge he is more than happy to share. A fantastic day refreshing old and learning new skills.
Spending the day in the woodlands with Gary was such a great thing to do. Aside from being in such a lovely area and spending the day outside, I am now much more comfortable with firebuilding and foraging. Firebuilding went beyond what I expected and I left with an even greater sense of how so much of our needs can be found naturally. Will enjoy coming back to learn more bushcraft.
I booked in a days instruction with Gary, covering mainly fire lighting techniques, with a bit of winter forraging and cordage making. I tailored the day to what I wanted to learn and Gary certainly knows his stuff and delivered a great day with great instruction and I will definitely be looking to come back again.
My wife and attended a tuition day with Gary as complete beginners.
It snowed all day and this just added to the wonderful experience - will strongly recommend and we are definitely coming back again for some future courses.
