What an informative and knowledgeable week in the woods.
This course was so much more than we expected. Gary is an incredible leader who has so much knowledge and teaches with so much grace. The location was picturesque and we are already looking forward to completing our IOL assessment with Gary in the future.
Thank you very much.
Best 3 days I’ve spent in a long time. Fantastic course led by Gary and assisted by Nicola and Peter. The days were crammed full of 1st class instruction on the course syllabus. Gary’s instruction is 2nd to none and very natural and relaxed. Set in beautiful natural woodlands this is an experience that will change your life for the better. I didn’t want to leave at the end of the 3 days and I can’t stop thinking about it since!
This 3-day Institute of Outdoor Learning Bushcraft course lead by Gary, and supported by Steve and Nicola, was brilliant! I really wasn't sure what to expect: my children had previously raved about a bushcraft birthday party that they'd been invited to at Jack Raven Bushcraft, so I was pretty sure I'd enjoy it. Well, it was the most enjoyable 3 days of my year! And I learned so much! I'm Canadian and had a rich outdoors education where I grew up, in and around the Rockies. However, over this 3 day course, I learned better and more efficient ways of doing pretty much everything, including building fires, finding due north, and making shelters.
Gary is a highly skilled instructor with a wealth of experience. He made all participants (with a whole range of skill levels) feel valued and competent, even with the trickier task of creating an ember with a bow drill. He kept the whole group engaged throughout.
I learned copious amounts and enjoyed the comradery. Now to decide which Jack Raven bushcraft classes to book next...
This course was superb and great fun. Over the three days I was able to recap on previous information yet I took away so much more. Gary, Nicola, Steve and Willow were all so welcoming and supportive throughout. A well organised course full of encouragement, fun and laughter - you wont notice how quickly the time passes by! Thank you for a great and inspirational course! I would highly recommend you to others.
The course was amazing and taught in a really fun and practical way. Gary was very knowledgeable and we all learnt a lot from him. Some of the skills were challenging especially the “Bow Drilling”, but Gary was great at teaching the skills and I managed to master it. The site is well organised and set in a beautiful part of the countryside. If you have a love for the outdoors and Bushcraft then this is the course for you!! I would thoroughly recommend it!! Thank you Gary, Nicola and Willow for a great experience!! 😊😊
