Sunshine Child Festival

What a great event the Sunshine Child Festival is.  It was fantastic to see all the kids running around in their wellies enjoying themselves despite the typical inclement weather.  There were some excellent activities for them to take part in, all free.  We did some fire lighting and carving butter knives with them, which they all enjoyed.  I was pretty worn out at the end of yesterday; around 40 butter knives were made by the kids, some as young as 6.  Keeping an eye on them all to make sure they kept their elbows on their knees and cut away from themselves, at the same time as giving advice and helping out, needs you to be entirely focused.  But the best thing is seeing the sense of achievement when they’ve finished and show their carving to mum and dad.
