As you may know, we run a carving course a couple of times a year. Some photos from a course we ran in April 2013 are here. It’s a great course to work on your knife and axe skills, both important for your overall bushcraft, but carving is a fantastic thing to do in its own right.
We do some spoon carving on the course as well as spatulas, honey spreaders, ladles etc. The course is really easy for me to teach – once we’ve been over the different knife and axe cuts and splitting techniques, I only need to provide a bit of guidance here and there. And remind people that they should stop every once in a while to have a drink and something to eat!
Nicola made her first spoon in April 2012 and now seems to be hooked. Any spare time and she is carving away. Anyway, these are some of the spoons that she’s made in the last month or so.
You can see plenty of photos of our carving course, and all of our other courses, on our Facebook page.
