What’s it about?
Brand new in 2018, this 2 day bushcraft tools & camp crafts course has been put together to show you how to create a myriad of practical items using basic bushcraft tools such as knife, folding saw and bow saw responsibly using the resources that nature provides, items that will enhance your time on your outdoor adventures.
This 2 day experience is therefore aimed at anyone who wants to develop their skills with basic bushcraft tools, ‘lighten the load’ and construct their own equipment as they go.
It’s suitable for anyone, regardless of previous experience as we’ll start with knife safety and knife cuts before moving on to making a host of useful campside items.
What will I do?
During your time spent with us on this bushcraft course, you will:
- Safely use essential bushcraft tools including knife, folding saw and bow saw,
- Practice responsible pruning cuts to allow trees to recover,
- Cleft and cross cut small rounds of wood,
- Get to make:
- Tent pegs,
- Honey spreaders,
- A woodland mallet,
- Various pot hangers and cranes for cooking,
- A spatula,
- A stick bow,
- Construct your own bucksaw that you can keep,
- Craft usable feather sticks, great for lighting fires when dry kindling is scarce on the ground,
- Learn some simple knots and lashings,
- Create straightfoward woodland ‘furniture’ such as tripods, chairs and tables,
- Be shown, and given time to practice, how to sharpen a knife so that it will easily slice through a sheet of paper,
- And of course, we’ll also throw in a session on tree identification and uses!
At the end of this camp craft course you will have a good working knowledge of the skills needed to make all manner of useful implements to enhance your bushcraft, camping or outdoor activities. And of course, everything you’ve made is yours to take home.

This 2 day course is basic but great for beginners and the location is ideal. Personally I would have preferred 2-1/2 or 3 days as everything was rushed. We didn’t cover “straightfoward woodland ‘furniture’ such as tripods, chairs and tables“ which was one area I was keen to learn. Some materials like paracord were not provided but critical to completing items. The course could benefit from grading of experience and better understanding of personal goals. Gary is very knowledgeable but could improve his personal and presentation skills. Booked on half price special so was good value for money.
This was a brand new course and it's often a bit tricky getting the timings right on the first delivery.
Sorry we didn't cover everything; when we put a new course together we typically add in plenty of activities, more than we are likely to get through, we'd rather that than run out of things to do. Now that we've ran the course we can amend the outlne and schedule accordingly.
We send out a kit list 6 - 8 weeks prior to the course, and paracord is on the list. Sometimes people forget stuff (this course we lent out roll mats, blankets, plates, cups, bowls and cutlery) but we don't have spares of everything.
